Join Sphere and MCSS to explore strategies to build a culture and practice for facilitating meaningful, equitable conversations through viewpoint diverse civil discourse.  Learn ways to empower students’ individual voices while encouraging inclusive conversations.  We’ll share strategies to manage the conversation along with student-centered content that connects them to the founding constitutional principle of free speech and expression through the mechanism of civil conversation.

 

Speaker bios:

Sarah Lane is an Educator Engagement Specialist for Sphere, focusing on Sphere on the Road efforts and Sphere Alumni engagement. She has K-12 experiences that include being a teacher, instructional coach and facilitator, member of administrative teams, and curriculum writer. She has taught in three states and across urban and rural spaces. Sarah enjoys partnering with educators and administrators to foster spaces of civil discourse and community.

John Snoad is a Senior Manager at Sphere Education Initiatives. He is a career educator with nearly 40 years combined of highly effective teaching, coaching, and professional development leadership in secondary social studies.  His experiences include working with multiple learners in urban, suburban, and rural settings. John joined the Sphere team in September 2022 and embraces Sphere’s mission of improving and promoting civic culture and civil discourse in America’s schools.
