Base fee:
  • The price will increase to $250 after Dec. 12th at 12:00 pm.
  • **Must be from the same school district or organization & register at the same time.**
    Rate available through Feb. 6th @ 12:00pm ONLY!
  • MCSS Teacher of the Year Awards Dinner Saturday, Feb. 20nd at 5:00pm - Fee will be added after clicking the on "Awards Dinner Buffet". Registration accepted through Feb. 6th
  • In order to register as a student or retired, you need please email MCSS to obtain the discount registration code at MCSSBoard21@gmail.com

    *Pre-service teachers/students must email from their college/university email to obtain the registration code and include their name, university or college, and expected graduation year.

    **Retired teachers please include your name, last district you worked for, years taught, and year of retirement.
  • Presenter discount limited to 2 presenters per accepted session only - both names must have been included on the session proposal to register as a presenter.

    You must have the registration code from your accepted session email to register for this discounted rate.

MCSS Conference 2026

Cultivating Civic Spaces:
Foundations for a Thriving Democracy


The annual MCSS conference is a professional development opportunity for Minnesota social studies teachers of all grade levels. The conference includes keynote speakers, engaging sessions on disciplines and strategies, exhibitors, and catered continental breakfast and lunch. This year's conference will be held at the Macalester College in St. Paul on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026.

7:00am - Registration Begins (Atwood 2nd Floor - Top of Stairs)

7:15am - Breakfast Begins (Atwood Ballroom)

7:45am - President's Welcome  (Atwood Ballroom)

8:00am - Sessions Begin (Atwood - See session schedule)


Social Studies Social Awards Dinner & Trivia Night

The Social Studies Social is a social evening event. At the Social, MCSS honors outstanding social studies teachers, traditionally at the elementary, middle and high school levels in addition to a Lifetime Achievement Award. Attendees will enjoy a catered dinner, a keynote speaker, and a wonderful opportunity to network with other social studies educators. Anyone is welcome to attend the event. Registration prices are per person. This year's Social Studies Social will be held at the Minnesota Humanities Center in St. Paul on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026.

5:30 pm - Social Hour (Atwood Cascade Room)

6:00 pm - Awards, Dinner & Keynote (Atwood Cascade Room)

8:00pm - Trivia Night (Atwood Cascade Room)


Registration deadline for the Awards Dinner closes at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, 2026. 

Payment: You may pay online with a major credit card or send a check payable to MCSS to: Crystal Johnson, MCSS Treasurer, 10877 Jersey Circle N, Brooklyn Park, MN 55445 before February 06, 2026.  After that time, please bring check or cash to the conference.

Cancellations: Full refunds will be issued for notifications of cancellation received on or before Feb. 06, 2026.  No refund will be issued in the event of cancellation on or after Feb. 06, 2025.
